The Game: Climate change, meet your match!
The goal was to find a new, delightful way to engage new potential community members about our climate change resilience programs — a key but lesser-known focus of Mercy Corps' mission. We decided to design a mobile-first match game. My first job was to help provide potential sets of images and stories (from a wealth of possibilities — Mercy Corps serves in dozens of countries) and to choose the strongest options. I lobbied for this imagery, featuring specific climate projects in rural Nepal. I helped winnow the best individual photos, and edited the stories developed throughout the game. I provided QA, testing, proofreading, and fact-checking. The game is now generating leads via digital ads and organic shares, and succeeds at "showing-not-telling" innovative technologies and positive outcomes for real people.
